How can I stop my hamster from biting?

I have a dwarf hamster. I’ve had her for roughly for 3 months. She never really was aggressive before. She was the sweetest thing. But now if I put my fingers near her cage to let her for some exercise in her ball she will "slap" me and bite me. I do spend a fair bit of time holding her and stuff. She is fine once she calms down. But why did start biting? She never did it before, could it be maybe "puberty" or so?

Firstly make sure she is fed well and also, you might want to look into buying a special salt ball from the nearest pet shop. We have salt on our hands that most rodents like to lick off.
